“Mary responded, ‘I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.’ And then the angel left her.“ — Luke 1:38 (NLT)
There are moments in scripture that feel delicate and terrifying at the same time.
Luke 1:38 is one of them. Mary stands in front of an angel with news that will change her life forever. No preparation. No warning. Just a calling that disrupts everything she thought she knew.
And her response is breathtaking in its simplicity.
“I am the Lord’s servant. May everything You have said about me come true.”
She did not ask for a timeline. She did not request reassurance from the people who would doubt her. She did not demand clarity. Mary said yes while her future was still blurry and her path still costly. That kind of obedience is powerful. What we often miss is what happens next.
The angel leaves.
Heaven goes quiet.
Mary is left holding the weight of her yes without constant confirmation.
And that feels familiar, doesn’t it?
God speaks. We obey. Then silence.
But silence does not cancel the promise.
Mary’s obedience reminds us that faith is not about having all the answers. It is about believing God’s word enough to align your life with it, even when the details feel overwhelming. Saying yes to God does not guarantee ease. It guarantees purpose.
Sister, your yes may not look dramatic to the world. It might look like staying faithful, choosing integrity, and walking forward without applause. But Heaven responds to surrendered hearts. Mary’s quiet yes became the doorway for redemption. Your yes matters too.
